The first thing about Rose that comes to my mind is how much she adored her family! Her family was her life–she nurtured her loved ones. She was happy when they were happy and worried about them when they were sick or going through difficult situations in life. Can see her watching over all of us now, filling everyone with her radiant love and smiling that wonderful happy-to-see-you smile. Rose filled people with her kindness and made you want to be like her.

Jerry, nothing anyone can say will ease the pain you feel at losing the angel who shared your life. Clark and I offer our deep and sincere sympathies to you. We are here for you.

Karen and Gail, it’s not fair that your Mom was taken from you like this. It puts a void within you that no other relationship will ever fill. Both of us have lost our Mothers and our sincere sympathies are with you. We’ll keep you and your Dad in our thoughts and prayers.

There is a sadness and emptiness inside . . . Although Rose and I did not get together as much as we wanted to over the many years that we knew each other, we kept in touch with phone calls, emails, and, an occasional letter. Can picture her here with me, glowing with her vibrant new energy, saying "C’mon now–don’t be sad! I’m still here–look at how alive I am!"

I miss you Rose–we will always be good friends.

Love-

Rose, I will never have another friend like you. You are not replaceable. You were my older sister, my confidant, and sometimes my mother, (a young one).

In the world of art, which is fraught with uncertainty and crazed people, you were my anchor and a true mentor, not only to me, but to so many artists who showed their work in Artists’ Cove. I owe team Jerry and Rose my reputation as an artist. You challenged and urged me to take on difficult projects and commissions. Every artist needs “nudging”. There were times when situations caused me to respond without thinking. Although you would never hurt someone’s feelings purposefully, you always gently let me know when I was out of line. I can hear you say, “Suzanne, maybe you should think about this first”. Whenever we brainstormed to plan an art event, home show, gallery demonstration, or program, we would always come up with twenty good ideas, throw out nineteen, and then forget whose brilliant idea it was that we used. The team of Jerry and Rose made the business of art fun. I would have those days again.

When you could no longer do the business part because you were fighting for your life, we relaxed into being friends. However, in the last month of your life, I presented you with a professional problem. I could not think of anyone else to ask about this. You listened as I explained, and, in true Rose fashion, gave me a wonderful solution. I know you had so much on your mind and couldn’t have been feeling well, but we brainstormed again and came up with an answer.
Ray and I will always remember the Seder dinner you and Jerry invited us to share with your family, and Ray will never forget the latkes you once made for him.

I think of you every day and will miss you forever,

From the day we met...after my mother, Naomi, and your future sister-in-law Beverly, greeted you dressed as "hillbillies" - we laughed! Whether we were boarding that big boat and laughed as we realized we both had fear of heights, dangling gang planks and pishing in our pants...we laughed. Whether it was discussing the antics of the grandkids or figuring out how shopping fit into our days, we laughed...whether it was keeping you out of your kitchen when someone else was using every pot and pan you owned or it was sneaking laundry into your washing machine...we laughed! Whether it was deciding who would fall asleep first in the chair - Rosie, Jerry or Norman...we laughed! It is these memories and so much more that we have of our dear Rosie. Rose was a role model for courage and laughter! We cherish the laughter and the love!

Aunt Rose was always special to me from the day she asked me to be a junior bridesmaid in her and Uncle Jerry's wedding. We became grandmothers during the same year (1998) and shared "baby" stories all the time. Aunt Rose always had a positive attitude all through her illness...to a point that sometimes we didn't know how truly ill she was. We were blessed to be able to see her looking beautiful this past summer at Rachel and Scott's wedding...we know she pushed to get there to be with family.

I will miss her but will always remember her smiles and laughter.

Rose was a good friend, never one to complain even when she wasn't feeling up to par, but wanted to know how 'you' were. She truly cared about the people in her life. You could always count on Rose to have a new photo or story about her grandchildren. I loved the way Rose was always amazed by how many different ways and what information she could have pulled together by her business program on the computer. She never enjoyed the tedium of bookkeeping in any of her business ventures, and was always appreciative of anything that could make things easier for her busy life. She was a gracious lady with a gentle soul and we will miss her!

We'll remember Rose for her caring, kind and always thoughtful ways. We'll remember her love for Jerry, Gail, Karin, and her three grandchildren. We'll remember her love for life, nature and the Arts. When her red roses start blooming in the spring and the yellow ones that she gave us bloom near our front door, we'll think of our sweet Rose. She filled a very special place in our hearts, she'll remain there in loving memory. How lucky and blessed we are to have been her friends and neighbors.

A person can be remembered in many ways. Our first introduction to Rose had been one of the most memorable. It was when we were prospecting for a home in Oak Crest back in 2001.

An agent’s recommendation brought us to the Goldstein house. We rang their doorbell as strangers and were greeted as anything but. Rose and Jerry could not have been more honest and gracious. After a guided tour of their home, they were generous with their time in answering numerous questions. We appreciated Rose’s enthusiastic introduction to the Oak Crest community.

It is our hope that the Goldstein family will find comfort from their many wonderful memories of Rose – a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In Judaic terms, Rose was a woman of valor. She generated love to her devoted mate, to her wonderful children, to her darling grandchildren, and to a host of friends who loved her dearly. The “Boat People” who sailed on the Star Princess in February, 1992, when Rose first saw the ship and loudly exclaimed, “WOW”. We’ll always remember that precious day. We’re thankful for the friendship she shared with us, for her gifts of heart and mind, and for happy memories we will always cherish. We are grateful for these and more.

Jerry and Gail and Karen and family. We never have the ones we love for long enough but we are so lucky to have had them for the years gone by. Losing a wife and mother creates special feelings as we realize the fact of mortality. Rosie was a wonderful woman, mother and wife and friend and fought a grand battle for so many years. Jerry you have been my friend for more than 55 years and I value your friendship as always and am thinking of you. I am so sorry for your loss. December 25, 2008

I'm not quite sure I am worthy of the honor to speak about Rose because I feel that others knew her better than I. However, I loved this gal so much that I quickly came to realize that it would be a joy to celebrate her life with each one of you.

While these days are darker because of her death. My life is brighter because I have known her.

Rose had a unique personality. She was quiet and somewhat serious, but she loved to laugh.

I feel so fortunate to have had Rose in my life. I feel that it was my pleasure to have her as a neighbor and a friend for these past 7 plus years and I grew because of her. Each of us knew her for a different length of time, met her in different circumstances, and knew her in different situations. But, we all knew this about her. We knew that she was the truest friend any of us would ever have. We also knew that she was a kind, considerate woman with a generosity that defined her life.

I feel that Nelson Henderson said it best when he said "The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit." There was little sitting for her even during her illness.

During her life, Rose was involved in our Oak Crest Book Club, Breakfast Lunch Group and her and Jerry started a new social events some years ago called Gathering on Common Ground which was and is a huge success. Rose gave generously of her time and spirit that was spent with each of us.

They say that at the end of a lifetime, if you can count five good friends, you are a fortunate person. I know that I am fortunate; because I could always count on Rose to be the truest friends I have known. I knew that her word was bond and that I could trust her implicitly. Her sense of humor was very keen and she enjoyed a good joke as much as the next person.

Rose had the strongest "Can Do" attitude of anyone I've ever known and this attitude always showed through during her illness. She was the bravest and most courage women I know. She always had a positive attitude and she never complained (about Jerry maybe but never about your health... just kidding Jerry).

Her strength was amazing; she always tried to maintain a positive attitude. She was a strong lady.

I know that Rose would like her legacy to be the fact that there are still "True Blue Friends" in this modern, computerized, instant messaging world, and that she was one of them.

"What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal." Rose, you have left us with undying friendships and for that, we thank you.

We are all going to miss Rose. She was an important part of our lives for a very long time. If we find comfort in her passing, it's to realize that she is now free from the pain that plagued her on earth and that she's now reunited with those who have gone before her. Most of all, however, I believe I will find comfort in believing that even though she's been gone for just a short time, that my good friend is now roaming the hallways of heaven, wearing the wings she has already earned - and they are golden.

Rest well my friend. You've touched the hearts and lives of many
