Ruth A. Linville-Hamper

BATAVIA – Ruth A. Linville-Hamper, 95, of Batavia, passed away on Aug. 14, 2013, at Michealsen Health Center in Batavia. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in St. Charles, the daughter of John and Nina (nee Tebell) Nystedt.

Ruth lived in St. Charles until after the eighth grade, when her family moved to Dundee. After graduation from Dundee High School in 1935, she attended West Suburban Hospital School of Nursing in Oak Park, graduating in 1942. She was united in marriage to Dr. LeRoy Linville in 1942. She and her husband worked together in their family medical practice in Batavia for over 30 years. She later married Richard Hamper, a family friend of over 40 years, in 1994. She was a resident of The Holmstad since 1998.

Ruth was a member of the Batavia Women's Club, Delnor Hospital Women's Auxillary and Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia.

She is survived by her two sisters, Louise (Philip) McMichael and Norma (Robert) McMichael, both of Amite, La..; a sister-in-law, Frieda Nystedt; and many nieces, nephews, many dear friends, and a special nephew, Fred.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. LeRoy Linville; her second husband, Richard Hamper; and a brother, Warren Nystedt.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St., Batavia. The Rev. Steven Srock and the Rev. Robert Stromberg will officiate. Private interment will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora.
