In loving memory of Wayne Read who passed away in Laguna Woods, CA from cancer. Born in Elgin, IL, Wayne graduated St. Charles High School, Class of 1953, as an all-sports athlete. Wayne served in the US Army 1953-55. He also attended Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL. He worked for Owens-Illinois for 15 years. He enjoyed 10 years as a Realtor in the Fox River Valley, IL and 10 more years in Orange County, CA, where he relocated in 1983.
Wayne was a kind and loving person, who was quick to give hugs, loved to dance, and always had many friends. In his retirement, Wayne enjoyed travel and cherished the friendships he made playing tennis and golf. He continued to play tennis after his 86th birthday. He loved going out for champagne brunch and spending time with his family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Adele, brother Robert, sister-in-law Bonnie, all of St. Charles IL, and his love of 14 years, Patricia Weber of Newport Beach CA. Wayne is survived by his children Michael (Sharon) of Dana Point CA, David of Houston TX, and Krista Hayes (Bob) of Redondo Beach CA, his 5 grandchildren Jack, Henry, Logan, Ford, and Olivia, and 2 great-grandchildren, Lily and Atlas.

Wayne worked with me as a Realtor with Baird & Warner in the late 70s and early 80s. Was a good and fun friend.

I first met Wayne in the early 70´s when he and Wally Malmborg came to list my house. When I become a Realtor too, Wayne briefly worked for me. We continued our friendship over the years and he never missed sending a newsy Christmas card. So sorry to hear the news

I know he lead a good life i in California and a special thanks to Michael for being a son living close by and being a good friend to him. He loved you ALL of so very much. Hope all is well and you take care of Patricia..she had the best of Wayne I am certain.
