Anita Brown

Anita Louise (Shope) Brown, age 79, passed away on Tuesday evening, 23 September 2025, at Providence Hospital, Medford, Oregon of heart and lung problems. She was born on 10 December 1946, at Clark County Hospital, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the daughter of the late James Roland Shope and Angeline Pauline (Stancovich) Shope, of Okolona, AR. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Brown, of 39 years in marriage. She is survived by her five brothers, James Shope, age 82 of Henderson, NV, Thomas Shope, age 81, of Central Point, OR, Anthony Shope, age 80, of Central Point, Stanley Shope, age 77, of Forest Grove, OR, and Michael Shope, age 76, of Central Point. She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews. She also leaves many friends and other family members who will sadly miss her. Anita was longtime member of the Table Rock Bible Church in the Rogue Valley. She graduated from Cosmetology school in Medford, OR in 1965, and spent the next 40 years doing what she loved best. She owned several beauty shops in the valley, and moved to Salem, OR in 1982, where she owned and operated her business near Salem airport for 28 years. Anita suffered from major heart problems the last years of her life and spent the last two years living in an adult foster home in Medford. She really enjoyed her time there and was always happy, positive and upbeat about her life in general. She especially enjoyed her weekly visits from her childhood friend, Diane (Shelton) Jacobson. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Table Rock Bible Church in Table Rock, with Pastor Dave Price officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Pankey Cemetery in Sams Valley where her ashes will be buried overlooking beautiful Sams Valley. Questions or comments?
