Donald Keck Obituary

Donald Leonard Keck 11/26/1959- 6/17/2025 A devoted husband and father, Don was born November 26, 1959, and passed away. June 17. 2025 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, at age 65, after waging a brave one-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Don was born in San Francisco, then moved with his family to Healdsburg, California, where he attended elementary school and joined Cub Scouts. He spent many fun-filled hours in those early years in the Mayacamas Mount St. Helens exploring the vast ranch property of his maternal grandfather, Leonard Smith. Grandpa "Perkins" and Don had a tight bond and truly loved spending time together. The family moved to Fairfield, California, where Don attended junior high school and joined Webelos Boy Scouts. In 1975, Don's mother was recruited to the staff of Rogue Valley Hospital, now Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, and she moved to Ashland, Oregon with Don and Zoe. Don attended and graduated from Ashland Senior High School. Don met his beloved wife Patricia (Bock) Keck in 1994, and married April 13, 1996. They had busy careers while raising their two children, Catherine Diane Keck and David Scott Keck. A 1987 graduate of Southern Oregon State College (now SOU) with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Don was employed for 17 years at 3M Corporation in White City. He then began a 29-year career as a pharmaceutical sales representative, most recently with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. The highlights of his career were the dear friendships he held with so many health providers and business associates. Don was a Boy Scout Leader and Executive Board Member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he led in his son's achievement of Eagle Scout. He was also Past President of Medford Ski & Snowboarding Education Foundation, as well as fundraising co-chair of Ashland High School Football Team's Pacific Rim Bowl journey to Japan, 2009. He was the Past President of Friends of St. Joseph's Historical Rectory, and active member of Knights of Columbus at Shepherd of the Valley, Central Point. Don was an active and avid supporter of his children's activities, e.g., sports, choir, theater, and their lifetime achievements as adults. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Patricia (Bock) Keck, adult children Catherine Diane Keck and David Scott Keck, and his lovable golden retriever, Handsome George. Also surviving is his mother and stepfather, Diane and Robert Claypool, his sister Zoe Varaday and niece Tamzin Varaday, as well as adoptive father Rodney Keck. He is also survived by stepmother June Seng, and brothers Brad and Brian Seng and their families of Grand Forks, North Dakota. Preceded in death was Patrick Seng – 6/2015 (father) and Monica Keck-8/1994 (wife). Don lived life large and gathered friends and relatives in his ever-widening circle with his magnetic, positive spirit and sense of humor. He will be profoundly missed by family and all who knew and loved him. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025, 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 517 West 10th Street, Medford Oregon. Lunch reception to follow at the Parish Hall. Committal of Ashes will be held at Pearl Funeral/Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford OR. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Donald, please visit our Tree Store.
