Bernard Evans Obituary

Kearney resident, 71

KEARNEY - Bernard "Dean" Evans, 71, of Kearney died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Govier Bros. Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Dan Rowlison officiating. Burial will be at Broken Bow Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 11, 1937, at Broken Bow to Wayne and Maude (Lloyd) Evans.

Survivors include his brothers, Calvin of Ansley and Roger of Omaha; sisters, Georgia Fread of Pleasanton and Karen Hostetler of Cairo; sisters-in-law, Barb and Karen Evans, both of Kearney, and Elline Evans of Litchfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He grew up on the farm and attended Round Grove country school and graduated from Mason City High School in 1954. After his education, he worked in the Sandhills before serving in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. After returning from the service, he moved to Columbus, where he worked as an electrician. After his health failed, he moved to St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

He enjoyed hunting, thoroughbred horse racing and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
