October 2, 1942 - September 13, 2025
Betty E. Compton, 82, of Kearney, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Hildreth Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Betty was born October 2, 1942, in Minden, Neb., to Clarence and Leola (Anderson) Nordbrock. She was raised in the Hildreth, Neb., area, and later attended Kearney High School. On November 19, 1960, Betty was united in marriage to Harry L. Compton in Kearney, Neb. The couple moved to Fremont, Neb., Holdrege, Neb., and then to Kearney, Neb., in 1965. Betty cleaned businesses for many years. She also worked at Campbell Soup Company and as a nurse's aide.
Betty was a long time volunteer at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and was an excellent cook.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Harry Compton of Kearney; daughters, Cammie (Jeff) Cole of Minden and Crystal (Dennis) Nelson of Broadview, Mont.; grandchildren, Ryan Chandler, Joshua Chandler, Rylie Cole, Cassie Cole, Jordan Cole, Lindsey (Brent) Botz, Dakotah (Sarah) Nelson and Dawson Nelson; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie Chandler and Bryce Botz.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Compton; and her brother Ronald Nordbrock.
