David Christensen Obituary

PLEASANTON - David Lee 'Dave/Davis/Drummy' Christensen, 50, of Pleasanton died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Fellowship Church in Kearney with the Rev. Mitch Ivey officiating. The family requests casual dress, Saints or band attire for the funeral.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home.

Dave was born Dec. 19, 1971, in Holdrege to James Bruce & Charlotte (McClain) Christensen. Most of Dave's childhood was spent in Holdrege. The family moved to Kearney when Dave was in high school where he attended Kearney Senior High School and received the John Phillips Sousa award before graduating in 1990.
In high school Dave was active in band and marching band in the percussion line. Drumming and music were the most important things to Dave, after his family. During this time Dave also joined and played with many local bands, including his family band with his father and his brother. Dave played and traveled with several bands in the past 35 years, including, Risen, Sidewinder, Syzygy, Turbo Sex Chicken, Tim Holcomb & the Union Cowboys and Blue Mesa.
Dave later moved to Omaha where he attended Metro Community College for computer/network programming and raised his children. He worked as an auto mechanic and in maintenance for various hotel chains.
In 2020 Dave moved back to the Kearney area. He met Kelly (Houfek) Dean whom he married on March 26, 2021. Dave and Kelly made their home in Pleasanton.
Survivors include his wife Kelly Christensen; children, Andrew Christensen (Waterloo), Ethan Christensen, Alex Christensen and Taryn Christensen (all of Omaha), stepchildren, Cody Dean (York), Christina Dean (Kearney), Austin Dean (Kearney) and Joseph Bors (Pleasanton); his mother Charlotte (McClain) Christensen of Omaha; his brother James B. Jr. and wife Tracy (Fuerstenau) Christensen and nieces Abby and Laura of Omaha; four grandchildren, Kyson, Aiden, Wyatt, and Bluebell; his former wife Katie Wilson; niece Abbi and nephew Will; aunts, the Rev. Sylvia Landers (Norfolk), Carol (Dale) Asche (Republican City), Linda Christensen (Omaha), Jo Ina (Gary) Slaughter (Lyons); uncles, Louis (Monica) McClain Jr. (Lincoln), Douglas McClain (Wilcox) and Steven (Helen) McClain (Holdrege), more than 35 first cousins and a greater number of second cousins.
Preceding in death are his father James Bruce Christensen Sr., grandparents, Clarence Andrew (CA) and Hildur (Bayer) Christensen and Louis Milton Sr. and Frances Marion Josephine (Brown) McClain; maternal aunts, Valyrea (McClain) Towne, Sharon (McClain) Johnson and Reatha (McClain) Lieb, wife Michelle (Truelsen) Christensen and three infant children, Shelby, David Jr. and Brandon.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
