David was born Oct. 11, 1954, in Kearney to Dale C. and Frances E. Steele-Wright. He attended Kearney Public Schools and was a 1973 graduate of Kearney High School.
He married Lori. L. Driml on July 6, 1976. The marriage was later dissolved. He spent most of his career in the health field, caring for others. His last employment was with Mount Carmel where he served for 20 years and held a variety of positions. Last five years of working career was with O'Brien-Straatmann-Redinger funeral home as funeral assistant.
David had a passion for collecting Tonka toys and refinishing antiques and collected antique car memorabilia. He also collected anything related to "A Christmas Story" and flamingos.
David served as chairman of the Advisory Council for South Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging, as commissioner on the Kearney Housing Authority Board, as chairman of the Safety Committee at Mount Carmel, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church Altar Guild where he assisted with Holy Communion with his sister-in-law, Sue Wright.
To Shari, Kent, James, Jan, Terry, Barb, Mike, Kim, Sue, and Bert: Thank you all for your years of friendship, your love, care and support. Miss me a little, but not for long. Go on with your life - laugh and BE STRONG. Don't dwell on my passing with sorrow and tears. BE HAPPY! We've had many wonderful years. We've hoped, we've dreamed, we've struggled and learned. We've found life worthwhile wherever we've turned. Our days have been full. We've savored so much - good friends, shared JOYS and the family touch. So miss me awhile, but don't feel alone. A lifetime of caring cannot be undone. Be still and listen, your heart knows it's true: Though you can't feel my touch, I am always with you!
