Dixie Lee Boell, 95 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. She was born July 5, 1930, in Boone County, Columbia, Mo., to Vaden A. and Grace B. (Stauber) Cameron. She received her education in Fairbury, Neb. and graduated with the class of 1948. Dixie furthered her education at Fairbury Junior College, and taught in rural elementary schools in Jefferson County, Neb.
On August 14, 1948, she was united in marriage to Benjamin C. "Ben" Boell in Fairbury, Neb., and the couple was blessed with a son, Douglas. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Dixie was employed at Becton Dickinson for many years. In 2016, Ben preceded her in death and she began to make her home at Christian Homes.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Holdrege.
Dixie had a passion for Genealogy and enjoyed volunteering alongside Ben at the Phelps County Historical Society, at the Nebraska Prairie Museum. The couple also enjoyed traveling the country together with their friends. She was an active member of DOES and her ladies' bowling league. With her spunky personality, she always kept life interesting! Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Benjamin W. and Adaline Catherine (Messing) Boell; a sister-in-law, Edith Hall; two brothers-in-law, Ivan Loyd and Dale Hall; two grandsons-in-law, Ron Andersen, Jr. in 2018 and Tim Garth in 2021; a niece and a grand-niece.
Dixie leaves to celebrate her life: son, Doug Boell and his wife, Robin of Kearney; two granddaughters, Stacey Wendell and her husband, Mike of Bertrand; and Michelle Garth of Kearney; six great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Landon and Addison Andersen, Oliver Garth, and Peyton and Olivia Wendell; sister, Betty Loyd of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dixie's honor are suggested to the Nebraska Prairie Museum or Christian Homes Care Community.
