Doran G. Post, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney surrounded by his loving family.

Doran was born in Luce, Nebraska, to Ross and Wilma (Fetherston) Post on June 13, 1934. Doran grew up in Shelton, Nebraska. He worked hard during his formative years at his father's filling station, icehouse, and on the family farm. Doran attended school in Shelton, graduating in 1952. He was active in all school sports and was inducted into the Shelton Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. Doran attended college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team where he played both center and linebacker. He was honored with All Big 7 Honorable Mention after his senior year in 1955. His love for the Huskers spanned his entire life and he never missed attending or tuning into a game. During college he also was a member and became a lifelong supporter of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Doran met Pat Menke during his college years and they were united in marriage on December 2, 1961. Their life together spanned sixty-one years. They made their first home in Shelton before moving to Lexington to farm. They had three children: Katy, Mary, and Jeff. Farm life provided a great lifestyle for the kids while growing up. Playing in the barn, swimming in irrigation ditches and riding horses were huge highlights for the kids and their friends. Aside from time at the farm, summers were spent at Johnson Lake and the family enjoyed ski trips and many vacations providing a lifetime of fun memories for all. Following his farming years, Doran started Doran Post & Associates where he sold hybrid seed corn, crop insurance, and real estate. Anything agriculture was Doran, and he was proud to receive Outstanding Young Farmer from the Lexington Jaycees in his earlier years and the Agricultural Service Award from the Lexington Chamber of Commerce in his later years. Working for several different crop insurance companies and attending their yearly meetings provided Doran and Pat the opportunity to travel much of the United States.

Doran had a deep love for his country and spent thirty-two years serving in the United States Air Force in active duty and as a reserve. As an active officer he was stationed in Okinawa and was a navigator and a radar trainer on B-29 aircraft. Following his active service, he joined the Reserves as a liaison officer for the Air Force Academy recruiting and testing potential candidates. Being a veteran was one of the most important pillars of who Doran was and having a conversation with any veteran from any segment of the military that he met always meant so much to him. He retired in 1984 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Doran was active in Demolay, Masons, Eastern Star, and Shriners. He took great pride in mentoring young men in the aforementioned organizations. He was also a 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served in various roles throughout the years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Katy and Alan Seberger of Lexington, Mary and Scott Lundgren of Omaha, and Jeff and Mimi Post of Omaha; grandchildren, Alison and Andy Keirns, Bridget Seberger, Sam Seberger, Collin and Ainsley Lundgren, Camden and Natalie Lundgren, Connor Lundgren and Sara Pleasant, Macy Lundgren, Siena Gleason, Tag Gleason; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Delaney, Lily and Brynnly Keirns; Brooks and Oliver Lundgren; Charles Lundgren; sister, Gail Anderson; brothers-in-law, Jim Anderson and Larry Austin; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Wilma Post; wife, Pat Post; sister and brother-in-law, Pat Evans-Austin and Wilbur Evans; nephew, Dan Evans; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Marion Menke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Bill Denker.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with family receiving guests from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial with Military Honors will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington following the service.
