Doug Alexander Frew

Doug Alexander Frew was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Gothenburg to John A. and Bessie M. (Hoppes) Frew. He received his education from Eustis High School, graduating with the class of 1964. Doug later attended the Grand Island School of Business for two years.
On March 1, 1968, he married Dianna Shiers. To this union two children were blessed, Rob and Travis. Doug proudly served seven years in the Nebraska National Guard.
Doug later married Mary (Schuller) Mora on June 2, 2000, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and was an avid supporter of softball. Through the years, Doug had umpired 3,187 games. He had 19 years of employment with Farrell Gas, Lexington Co-op, Big Flag Farm Supply and Aurora Cooperative. Doug always enjoying the opportunity to meet many people along the way. Doug enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's numerous events over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frew of Kearney; children, Rob (Kelli) Frew of Waukee, Iowa, Travis Frew of Gibbon, Venus (Ryan) King of Grand Island and Tessie (Bryce) Zeller of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Taylor (Derek) Kroll, Perrin (Selena) Frew, Payton King, Landon King, Addy Zeller, Tysher Zeller, Madisen Peterson, Olivia Peterson, and Paige Peterson; brother, James (Cyndee) Frew of Niwot, Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; and many cousins and extended family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother.
Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Slow Pitch Softball Association.
