Haisel Harnagel Obituary

KEARNEY - Haisel E. "Chub" Harnagel, 89, of Miller died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Christian Church with the Rev. David Harder officiating. Burial will be at Armada Cemetery in Miller.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 4-6 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and before services Monday at the church.

He was born May 3, 1921, at home north of Miller to Elmer and Ida (Ehresman) Harnagel.

On Aug. 2, 1959, he married Arlene Abel in Ansley. She died in 1993.

Survivors include his daughter, Jana Harnagel and her fiance, Bryan Van Hook, of Omaha; son, Jay Harnagel and his wife, Judy, of Miller; grandchildren, Jessica, Casey and Cody Janitscheck; sister, Evelyn Fees of Miller; sister-in-law, Naomi Harnagel of Kearney; brother- and sister-in-law, Bob and Marilyn Abel of Belleville, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.

He grew up in the Miller area and attended Red Wing School through the eighth grade. He graduated from Miller High School in 1938 then attended business college in Omaha. He returned to farm and ranch north of Miller. He also raised championship quarter horses.

He was a member of Miller Christian Church and the Miller Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, hunting, and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Opal Davis and Ruby Harnagel; and brother, Lee Harnagel.

Memorials are suggested to Miller Christian Church or the Miller Fire Department.
