Joyce Hultgren, age 78, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, October 3rd, at the Evangelical Free Church, 1202 A Street, Aurora. Pastor Dale Janzen will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.

Joyce Annette Hultgren, the daughter of James (Jim) and Doris (Anderson) High was born at Holdrege, Neb., on November 19, 1946 and passed away at Aurora, Neb., on September 28, 2025 at the age of 78.
Joyce grew up in Betrand, Neb., where she graduated from Bertrand High School. She worked during summers at the Bertrand Co-op. Joyce graduated from Kearney State College with a teaching degree.
On June 12, 1971 she was united in marriage to Alan Hultgren at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Neb. They had two children: Brent and Janis.
Joyce was a middle school teacher at Aurora Public Schools until she retired in 2010.
Joyce was a member of the Evangelical Free Church. As a pianist, she accompanied the many churches and groups she attended over the years. Joyce enjoyed Nebraska Football games, going on motor coach trips across the U.S and being a State Fair Volunteer. She especially enjoyed attending the grandchildren's activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Kenda (Anderson) High; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Linda Hultgren, and parents-in-law, Charles and Cleo Hultgren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Alan Hultgren, of Aurora; son, Brent Hultgren, of Kearney; daughter, Janis Hultgren, of Wheaton, Ill.; three grandchildren, Briahnna Hultgren of Lincoln, Bayleigh Hultgren of King George, Va., and Benjamen Hultgren of Lincoln; brothers, Richard (Sherri) High of Wichita, Kan., Mark (Cathy) High of Bertrand and Jon (Cheryl) High of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Teresa (Ken) Yoshida of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Lola (Jerry) Remmenga of Minden and Linda (Ron) Sorensen of Milford, and other family members and friends.
