Kay Olsen Obituary

Minden resident, 74

MINDEN - Kay Olsen, 74, of Minden died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Kearney County Health Services Hospital in Minden.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery before the memorial service.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

She was born Aug. 1, 1938, in Minden to William and Lillian (Arent) Doyle.

On June 7, 1959, she married Russell Olsen.

Survivors include her husband; son, David M. Olsen of Minden; daughters, Krista Potter and her husband, Ty, and Jennifer Olsen, all of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kendall DeJonge and his wife, Katy, Jake Olsen and his special friend, Michala Smidt, Nick Scheel and his wife, Kelsi, and Angie Scheel; great-grandson, Morrison Scheel; and half-sister, Dianne Blank of Fairfax Station, Va.

She spent her early years in Upland and then moved to Hastings. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 and then graduated from Kearney State College.

She and Russell lived near Minden. Kay was active in the family farm operation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, the Kearney County Genealogy Society and the Extension Club. She enjoyed yard work, playing bridge, crossword puzzles and "Jeopardy." Kay was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
