Lloy Dean Christian Rush was born on January 14, 1934, in Upland, Neb., to Lloyd and Peral (Jameson) Rush. At age seven, his family moved to a farm north of Axtell, where he attended Axtell Community School.
After high school, Lloy Dean met Jean Harms of Hildreth, Neb. They were married on April 19, 1957, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before Lloy Dean was deployed to serve in Korea. After his time in the service, Lloy Dean and Jean lived in Minden then moved to the family farm near Axtell. Together, they raised three children: Kym, Kelly, and Kari Beth and were active grandparents to eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Lloy Dean was active in the Axtell community throughout his life, serving on the Axtell Township Board, the Axtell Library Board, and the Axtell Elevator Board. He was also a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church, where he served on its session for many years.
An avid collector, he began restoring toy tractors, trucks, and pedal tractors-a hobby he enjoyed to the very end. One of his longtime goals was to have a 1952 Chevy pickup truck restored, a project that was completed just recently.
Lloy Dean cared deeply about his family, his church, and his many friends in Axtell and the surrounding area. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, LaDonna (Milfred) Lammers and Carolyn Keen-Lea; sister in-law, Mary (Jim) Mason; brother in-law, Paul (Barb) Harms; and great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Anne Fishell.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean Rush; children, Kym Rush, Kelly Rush, Kari Beth (Kevin) Fishell; grandchildren, Kassie (Brandon) Ristau, Karter (Nichole) Rush, Kameren Rush, Bobbie (Daine) Rahmann, Jackie Johnson, August (Kierstyn) Fishell, Austin (Emily) Fishell, and Camille Fishell (fiancé, Layton Dockweiler); great-grandchildren, Maddex Ristau, Rush Rahmann, Hattie Rahmann, Winne Rahmann, Kayton Rush, Karsyn Rush, Callum Fishell, and Emersyn Fishell; as well as many extended family members and friends.
