Lonnie E. Jones
Lonnie E. Jones, 82, of Kearney, died January 30, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – St. Luke's in Kearney. Graveside services will be 11:00 am, February 5, 2024 at the Pleasanton Cemetery in Pleasanton, Nebraska with Pastor Dean Hanson officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team, Leo & Clinton Krotz V.F.W. Post #9481, and Roy Eaton American Legion Post #321. Lonnie was born October 19, 1941 in Superior, Nebraska to Elmer and Christina (Dillon) Jones. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1959. He started working construction and dirt moving after high school. Lonnie was drafted into the Army in 1964 and served until 1966. Following the service, he farmed near Superior.
In 1998 he moved to Kearney. Lonnie married DiAnn Vonderfecht May 10, 2000 in Kearney. Lonnie worked maintenance at Mid Nebraska Community Action Partnership in Kearney until retiring in 2014. In 2018 Lonnie was proud to be awarded the Pioneer Farm Award for 100 years of family farming.
Lonnie enjoyed tinkering, refinishing furniture, going to garage sales, and watching old westerns on tv.
Lonnie is survived by his wife DiAnn Jones of Kearney; daughter, Jennifer and Frederick Kujath of Fairbury, NE; stepdaughters, Suzanne Davis of Kearney, Michelle Martinson of Omaha, NE; sister, Karen LaRock of Sparta, WI; other family members, Paula Kramp, Josh & Darcy Jones, Jeremiah Jones all of Omaha, NE, and Jonah and Hailey Jones of Olathe, KS.

Really enjoyed Lonnie at Mid Nebraska. He had to put up with lots of women wanting everything fixed right now. He always was a gentleman.
