Marianne Hemmann Obituary

Former Amherst resident, 89

JANESVILLE, Wis. - Marianne Hemmann, 89, of Janesville, formerly of Amherst, Neb., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at a hospice facility near Janesville.

Memorial services will be Jan. 29 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Janesville.

A memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church of Amherst is planned for late spring or early summer.

She was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Danzig, Germany, to Johann and Anna Magdalena Mowinski.

In January 1949, she married Eugene Hemmann. He died in 1983.

Survivors include her sons, Rudy of Loveland, Colo., and Roland of Janesville; nieces, Renate Mowinski of Munich, Germany, and Dagmar Buttner of Gelsenkirchen, Germany; and granddaughter, Erica Hemmann of Grand Island, Neb.

She was a hospital nurse in Berlin during World War II. Following the war, she met Eugene and immigrated to the United States in December 1948.

She lived on the family farm northeast of Amherst until 2005 when she moved to Wisconsin to join her son, Roland.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evamaria in 2002.
