Fondly known as Bob or "Bobby" by his brothers and sisters, Robert was born on December 5th, 1942, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Melvin and Lucile Lambertus. Growing up on the family farm, he eventually took the reins and became a dedicated farmer. After serving his country as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam, Robert returned to raise his three children, Kammy, Sherri, and Shane.
In the mid-70s, Robert relocated to Kearney after marrying Patricia, expanding his family to include three more children: Chris, Brian, and Missy. A skilled carpenter and contractor, Bob played a pivotal role in constructing the then-new Good Samaritan Hospital and contributing to the development of the University of Nebraska's Kearney campus.
Known for his selflessness and kindness, Bob never sought anything for himself but rather extended a helping hand to anyone in need. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his antique car collection when not tirelessly building homes for his loved ones. Bob's talents knew no bounds-he could construct a house from the ground up, rebuild a car engine, tend to cattle, and manage a farm. As a licensed pilot, he could soar through the skies, ride a horse or motorcycle depending on the occasion, and even take the family on a memorable ride in his horse-drawn carriage.
In his later years, Bob faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease with remarkable strength. Despite the hardships, he retained his warm heart, winning smile, and quick-witted sense of humor, often playing pranks on nurses. Bob touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt, and he will be sincerely missed.
May Robert Kent Lambertus rest in eternal peace, his legacy living on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Bob is survived by his children, Kammy Rios of Nyssa, OR, Shane Lambertus of Riverdale, NE, Chris Edens of Omaha, NE, Missy Sweiss of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; siblings, Sandy Pflaster, Kenny Lambertus both of Littleton, CO; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; daughter, Sherri Dionne; stepson, Brian Landis; and sister, Judy Silver.
