Sandra "Sandy" Scheer
Sandra "Sandy" Scheer, 76 of Kearney passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Keens Memorial Home in Kearney. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Red Cloud Cemetery in Red Cloud, NE. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024 at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Carmel Home or to St. James Catholic Church. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O' Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Sandy was born November 16, 1947 in Hastings, NE to Loren and Cleo (Figgins) May. She attended Kearney High School, later earning her GED. On July 3, 1968, Sandy was united in marriage to John A. Scheer. To this union, two sons were born.
Sandy was a longtime employee of the Salvation Army Thrift Store before working at Baldwin Filters as the Cafeteria Manager. Most recently, Sandy worked at Yellow Van.
Sandy had a passion for all things Elvis. She also enjoyed making cakes and spending time with her granddaughters.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jay (Kirsten) Scheer and Russ Scheer all of Kearney; granddaughters, Destyni (Lane) Ahrens of Kenesaw, Preslie Scheer and Jaycee Scheer both of Kearney; great granddaughter, Sadie Ahrens of Kenesaw; brothers, Rick (Pam) May of Tampa Bay, FL and Randie (Lisa) May of Kearney; sister in -law, Becki May of Palestine, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Scheer; brother, Roger May; and an infant son.
