Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden.

Sheralynn "Sherry" Joan Alberts was born on January 10, 1941 in Holdrege to Fooke R. and Minnie R. (Keiser) Hemje. She grew up in the Hildreth area, graduating from Hildreth High School with the class of 1958. Sherry attended Kearney State College and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education.

She was united in marriage to Gary R. Alberts on December 31, 1961 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hildreth, and to this union four children were born: Millie, Mardy, Matthew and Marilyn. The family made their home on their family farm north of Hildreth until retiring and moving to Hildreth. Sherry taught fourth grade in Minden at C.L. Jones Middle School, before deciding to become a full-time mom and farm wife. Sherry worked hard on the farm and was a wonderful mother. She was a very giving person and volunteered in many ways in her community and church.

Sherry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. She was always very active in the church, even serving as the first woman on the St. Paul Lutheran Church Council. She also worked for the Franklin County Election Board for several years. She enjoyed attending Thursday morning coffee and the Recipe Club at Hildreth Public Library. Throughout the years, Sherry enjoyed bowling, sewing, cooking, and most importantly, spending time with her family and grandchildren. Hosting family dinners and holiday celebrations brought her so much joy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gary Alberts, of Hildreth; children, Millie (Dale) Schenk of Hildreth, Mardy Alberts of Minden, and Matt (Brenda) Alberts of Axtell; son-in-law, Jim Reier of Kearney; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Schenk, Tyler (Caroline) Schenk, Sydney Alberts, Paul (Emily) Carlson, Ben (Aliese) Alberts, Robin Carlson (fiancé Trey Thompson), and Grant Alberts; great-grandchildren, Carson Schenk and Maverick DeLaet; brother-in-law, Alan (Karen) Alberts of Hildreth; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marilyn Reier; siblings, Lucille Wilken, Doris Friedrich, Darlene Purdy, Lorraine "Jane" Warnken, Alfred Hemje, Don Hemje and LaMoine Hemje.
