Tim Louis Andersen
Tim Louis Andersen age 73, of Kearney, NE, passed away on August 30th, 2024 at St. Luke's Village in Kearney. A Celebration of Life will be held at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the family greeting friends between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20th, 2024. Casual attire is requested for those who attend.
Tim was born on October 9th, 1950 in Kearney to Omer and Amorita Andersen. He grew up in Axtell, Nebraska where he enjoyed summers of playing baseball and spending time with his extended family. After graduating from Axtell High School in 1968, Tim attended Hastings College where he received his degree in Chemistry. Following graduation, Tim worked as a science teacher for one year. He moved to Kearney in 1975, following his marriage to Donna Kelley. He then spent many years as an automotive parts manager at various businesses in Kearney.
Tim will be remembered by those closest to him for a lifelong love of learning and keen curiosity for the world around him. Tim deeply immersed himself in numerous hobbies in his adult life. An avid ham radio operator for decades, Tim developed friendships with operators all over the world. In addition to his daily Wordle and crossword puzzles, Tim took special pride in lawn care, precisely manicuring his grass until he became ill. Tim was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved watching them grow up. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Tim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Andersen, daughter and son in law, Laura and Lucas Stock, 3 grandchildren, Kate, Ben, and June Stock, sister, Julie McConnell, nephews, Mark Andersen and Dalton McConnell, and niece, Kara Thorton. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Andersen, his parents, Omer and Amorita Andersen, infant sister Jane, brother, David Andersen, in laws, Don and Kate Kelley, and brother-in-law, Don Kelley.
For those who wish to offer a remembrance, memorials are suggested to the Unicef USA's K.I.N.D. (Kids In Need of Desks) Fund, which provides students in Malawi support for learning.
