KEARNEY — Victor Alvarez Jr., 22, of Kearney died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Kearney.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at O’Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home with the Rev. David Boedeker officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.


Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.


He was born June 22, 1986, in Kearney to Victor and Kathy (Langston) Alvarez.



Survivors include his mother, of Kearney; his father, of Kearney; sisters, Kristine DeVoll and her husband, Chris, of Hastings and Jodi Lindholm and her husband, Brian, and Michelle Weston and her husband, Jerry, all of Kearney; brother, Bailey Thompson of Kearney; paternal grandmother, Charlene Anderson of Kearney; and nieces and nephews.


He grew up in Kearney and attended Kearney High School. He worked as a cook at The Cellar Lounge, Papa John’s Pizza, Perkins and Skeeter Barnes. He loved music and his dog Izzy. He liked tattoos. He was a member of New Hope Family Church.


He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.


Memorials are suggested to the family.

Victor was truly an amazing person. He is loved and missed by so many people. He touched people's lives like no one else could. Victor was always there for you through thick and thin trying to make things better, which he always seemed to do! He is missed everyday and will never be forgotten.
