Aurelia Jeanne Elkins

Aurelia "Sis" Jeanne Elkins, 75, passed away on January 21, 2023, at Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point on Friday, January 27, from 4pm-6pm.
Aurelia Wright was born on November 29th, 1947, in Hornell, NY to Richard and Grace Wright. She grew up and graduated in Warsaw, NY. After graduation she attended Hombolt Institute in Minneapolis MN where she met Darrell Elkins. The couple were married in 1968 in Riverside Iowa. The couple moved to San Bernadino, CA in 1969 where they had their first-born Brian Elkins. They moved to Jefferson SD in 1971 and had their 2nd child Scott Elkins in 1973. In 1978, they moved to Elk Point, where she has resided.
Sis enjoyed family time, feeding & watching squirrels, Buffalo Bills football, and raising her two boys. She was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary serving as Treasurer for 7 years and President for 2 years. She was also involved for several years in the local Jaycees and Jaycettes, serving as President for one year. She was also involved serving as a volunteer for the local ambulance.
Through the years she has been employed at several local businesses in the Elk Point area. Sis lived her life taking care of others. She worked for 6 years at the Elk Point nursing home and helped many residents for 22 years at the Wel-Life Assisted Living before retiring in 2021.
She is survived by her two sons, Brian Elkins of Jefferson SD, Scott and wife, Mindy Elkins of Tea, SD; brothers, Richard and wife, Shirley Wright of San Antonio TX, and James and wife, Mary Lou Wright of Hamburg, NY. She has four grandchildren, Jacob and wife, Julie Elkins of Tea SD, Luke Elkins of Garretson, SD, Adam Elkins and Sophya Elkins also of Tea.
