Carolyn May Kindsfater

Carolyn was born July 14, 1939 in Belle Fourche to George and Eunice (Kirksey) Kindsfater. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1957. She continued her education at Huron College earning her bachelor's degree in 1961 and taught grades 7-12 math from 1961 to 1967 in Bristol, SD. Carolyn returned to Belle Fourche to teach high school math from 1967 to 1995. She coached Belle Fourche High School Girls golf for 20 years and the boys golf team for 5 years. She advised school yearbooks for many years. Carolyn participated in 4-H Clubs and was a member of the South Dakota Education Association. She was a member of Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and an active member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Belle Fourche Country Club. She loved to golf and play bridge. After retirement she enjoyed making quilts with the women's quilting group at the Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eunice; a brother, Ralph Kindsfater; a nephew, Randy Kindsfater and a great nephew, Marcus Kindsfater. She is survived by her sister, Gladys (Lee) Voyles of Belle Fourche; nephews, Steven Kindsfater of Sturgis, SD, Michael Kindsfater of Bismarck, ND, Chad (Mary Jo) Voyles of Belle Fourche, SD, Kortney (Katie) Kindsfater of Hettinger, ND and Chris (Molly) Voyles of Camas, WA and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 30th at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. A lunch will follow with burial at 1:30 pm at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
