I went to elementary and high school with Doug and his brother Greg. We all moved to Lincoln Square around the same time. Doug was generous, smart, wise, funny, unbelievably dedicated and you were lucky to watch and learn from him.
Doug and Greg have always been like family to me. He was like a big brother and his advice was always spot on. To this day, when I answer a business phone call I think of Doug coaching me in 1991 on how to sound professional. He looked at me like we´re not kids anymore, you´re at work, do it this way. Then cracked a huge smile to make sure I was ok. He offered a lot of little bits of advice like that. He made you believe in yourself, because if Doug thought you could do something, that was a big endorsement. A decade later, in the business world, he was still helping by introducing me to people in his network.
I was and am heart broken to hear of his passing. We hadn´t caught up in several years, it was probably a LinkedIn hello, but deep down I always felt like if I needed help or advice, Doug would be there to tell me exactly how to handle things. And he would be right... It´s hard to believe he´s gone.
My deepest condolences to his little girls, parents, and his dear brother Greg.

I hired Doug into the Corporate Treasury of Morgan Stanley. He was a remarkable talent as a young man, but of greater importance, Doug was a gentleman with a remarkable personality. He will be remembered and missed by his former colleagues.

Working with Doug many years ago no matter the topic, he always seemed to have a smile when he talked. I will remember him most for his love for that late night a coke and a smoke in the office. My sympathies to his family.

I worked with Doug over 20 years ago, but talked to him as recently as last month because I valued his wit, wisdom and friendship. My deepest condolences.
