Joan Lucile Pelle, 95, of Belle Fourche died September 13, 2025 at the Rolling Hills Healthcare in Belle Fourche.
Joan was born October 21, 1929 in Kinsley, Kansas to John and Mary (Gerstberger) Lobmeyer. She lived on a farm in Kinsley, KS. The family moved to Colorado in the 30's and she helped on the family dairy. Joan met Donald Pelle and they married January 6, 1949. They relocated to Vale, SD in 1956 and continued dairy farming and expanded the operation while raising a family of six children. They sold the farm in the early 70's and Joan began her alteration business working for department stores and personal clients. Joan donated countless hours to the Catholic Church in Rapid City and Belle Fourche.
She enjoyed making quilts and loved crocheting. She enjoyed serving breakfast at the Catholic Church to the bikers during the rally. She was a prayer warrior and made prayer afghan blankets. She was an excellent quilter and sought after seamstress. She enjoyed gardening and canning and was a proficient candy maker.
Joan is survived by a sister Gladys Chase; a brother, Larry (Diane) Lobmeyer; her children and their families, Marjorie (Charlie) Card and daughter Tammi, James Pelle (Pam Hanson) and children Stacey, Stephanie, Dusty and 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Mary (Jim) Kraus and children Rodney and Renee, Bill Pelle (Monica Slocum) and children Chasity and Brock and 6 grandchildren and Ed (Becky) Pelle and children Christopher and Travis; daughter-in-law, Becky Pelle and children Charity Pelle (Robert Newlander) and their children Benjamin, Nathan and Landon and Terance Pelle (Shaunte Pierce) and stepchildren Kaydence, Nova and Peyton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary, her husband, Donald Pelle, brothers, Robert and Kenneth Lobmeyer, a sister, Rosemary Justice, grandson Bryan Card and a son, Daniel Pelle.
A Rosary will be held Saturday, September 20th at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Belle Fourche with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at the church followed by a lunch. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
