Norman Anthony WhiteShirt

Norman A. WhiteShirt, 81 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital with his loving nieces and nephews by his side.
Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at Cedar Presbyterian Cemetery in Swan Township, South Dakota. He will be laid to rest next to his grandmother, Hannah Mallory.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls.
Visitation will resume on Thursday, at Marty Community Center in Marty, SD at 6 p.m.
Norman was born on November 18, 1942, the son of Clarence WhiteShirt and Alfreida C. Eagledog.
Norman attended South Dakota School for the Deaf graduating in 1961.
While attending SDSD, Norman was a very accomplished runner, winning many state championships which got him the opportunity to run in Halsinki, Finland for the Deaf Olypmics. While he was there, he was able to tour much of Europe.
Norman worked for John Morrell Meat packing plant in Sioux Falls for 23 years and was retired from this job.
Norman had always been a generous and big hearted to everyone that he encountered.
Norman is survived by his sisters, Jennifer (Chuck) Williams, and Veronica (Louis) Brockman; his brothers, Charles WhiteShirt, and Darrell (Carmen) WhiteShirt; his nieces and nephews, Clint Sandal, Sue Hicks, Todd Sandal, Shannon Loomis, Michael Holloway, Walter Holloway, Dina Whalen, Robert Carstens, Anthony Whiteshirt, Katrina WhiteShirt, Samantha WhiteShirt, Bill (Beth) Swaney, Pam and Krystal Chinn; many great nieces, and nephews; Norman also had a son, Nathan Herr and a grandson, Jaxon.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alfreida; his sister, Linda Picotte, his brother, Clarence WhiteShirt Jr., his niece, Gina Hill.
