Richard Alan Carlson was born February 5, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Schaffer) Carlson. At a young age, Richard moved with his family to California, where Richard graduated from the La Crescenta Valley High School in 1964. In 1992, Richard met Cynthia Monahan and four months later they were married on July 15th. Richard and Cindi were married in Bullhead City, Arizona and God blessed them with 32 years of marriage. Together they lived in Lancaster CA, Cedar City UT, and Las Vegas NV. The days of living together in an RV were some of their favorite times. During a snowstorm in December of 2013, Richard and Cindi moved to Nisland.
Richard was a strong person with a strong personality. He was a two-time cancer survivor. He enjoyed getting people riled up. It might be politics, or the subject of the day, and Richard found enjoyment getting reactions out of people. He was a Nascar fan back in the days when Nascar was fun. Tony Stewart was his favorite driver, and Richard was very fortunate to have attended a race that Tony won. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding motorcycle, and traveling. And he loved his wife very much.
Richard is survived by his wife, Cindi of Nisland; grandson, Isaiah; step-daughter, Blythe (Aaron Lear) Webster; the Sandi and Gordon Helms family; the Joni and Rene Gonzalez family; and his two dogs, Derringer and Remington. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Jr.; and step-son, Bryce Webster.
