Wayne Riley Calvert

Wayne R Calvert, 67, of Belle Fourche died Saturday March 18, 2023 at his home. He was born September 15,1955 in Deadwood, SD to Robert and Myrtle (Barber) Calvert. Wayne grew up in Lead and graduated from Lead High School in 1973. After graduation Wayne began his mining career with Homestake Mining Company, where he obtained his master millwright certification and worked as a heavy equipment operator. After the closing of Homestake, Wayne continued his career as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 2020. Wayne had an enormous love for life. Some of his most treasured memories were made spending time at the lake with family and friends sharing laughs, telling stories and enjoying the great outdoors. When not on the water, Wayne enjoyed watching and attending Nascar races as well as cheering on his beloved Saints during the football season. He is survived by his special friend in life, Cindy Faubion of Belle Fourche; daughter, Jessi (Anthony) Merkel of Waco, TX; granddaughter, Orianna (Patrick) Hunter of Waco, TX; great grandson, Beckam Merkel; sister, Karen (Tom) Carr of Lead, SD; brothers, Clint (Martha) Calvert of Spearfish and Ron (Renata) Calvert of Byron, IL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle; nephews, Marc Calvert and Chad Carr. Visitation was held Friday, March 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 am at Kline Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, SD. The funeral will be published for viewing at klinefuneralchapel.com live streaming site following the funeral. Pallbearers will be Anthony Merkel, Patrick Hunter, Rob Carr, Chris Faubion, Steve Jensen and Stacy Oberle.
