Bruce E. Runkle Sr., 72, of Schererville, IN passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. He was born January 7, 1953 to Cecil and Helen (Schilling) Runkle of Sugar Grove, IL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bruce was a husband to (late) Georgette (Leypold) and is survived by his wife Marianna (Gambini), his brother Richard (Jeananne) Runkle, sister (late)Brenda (Gene) Anderson, children (late) Bruce Runkle Jr., Brandy (Robert) Pfeifer, Brian (Amy) Runkle, Brett (Erin) Runkle, Bradley Runkle, Step-daughter Nicole (Chandler) Troy, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bruce was a member of the Yorkville Congregational Church, Yorkville Moose Lodge, Yorkville American Legion, and a volunteer Bristol-Kendall firefighter. He was an avid softball and golf player. He umpired softball and refereed basketball for 42 years. He was inducted into the USSSA Softball Umpire Hall of Fame in 2024. He loved hiking, walking his dog, riding his motorcycle, and riding with the top down in his Corvette.
Bruce's celebration of life will be held on Sunday June 22nd from 1-4pm at Yorkville Congregational Church, 409 Center Pkwy, Yorkville, IL 60560.

Didn't know Bruce socially, but knew him through his enthusiastic support of all of the kids and activities of the Yorkville Wrestling Club. We were lucky to have him on our side.
