Dean P. Hartley, age 87, of Oswego, IL, peacefully passed away on Christmas day surrounded by the love of his family. He was born February 23, 1936 in Greenfield, IA the son of Abner P. and Irma Roselle nee Lawrence Hartley.
Dean proudly served his country in the US Navy. After his honorable discharge he worked as an industrial engineer for Caterpillar. He was a 50+ year member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Jo nee Kemp Hartley, children Anne (Steven) Joseph, Jane (James) Harrison, Susan (Gary) Hartley Brown, Mary (Timothy) Connolly, Lucy (Craig) Armstrong, Jennifer (Gaetano) Capici, Joseph (Edith) Hartley, multiple grand- and great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Monday, January 1, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Burial with full military honors followed at Risen Lord Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, P.O. Hartley Family: I just found out that my Caterpillar friend Dean passed away on Christmas Day. It was a joy to have known Dean at Caterpillar. He and I had many conversations about are place of work and sometimes politics. I am so sorry for your loss, but you can be at peace knowing Dean served his country and his family with honor. Be assured that Dean has been welcomed into heaven with open arms. So Dean my friend Let go and Let God as it is time for you to Rest In Peace.
