Edward Wolf Obituary

Edward John Wolf
Born: August 3, 1941
Died: September 10, 2025
Edward John Wolf-known as Ed to family and friends-passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 84. Born August 3, 1941, in Aurora, Illinois, Ed spent most of his life in Oswego, the town he loved, and drew his final breath surrounded by family.
Ed grew up in rural Wheatland Township, attending one-room schools through eighth grade before beginning at Oswego High School in 1955. Though he knew no one at first, he quickly made friends through athletics earning 12 varsity letters: four in baseball, three in football, three in basketball, and two in track. He was co-captain of the undefeated 1958 football team and was named All-State in both football and baseball. In 2021, his achievements were honored with induction into the Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame.
A proud OHS Class of 1959 graduate, Ed built a distinguished career at Austin Western and Burgess-Norton. Guided by his philosophy to "get along with everyone" and "never be afraid of hard work," he earned his bachelor's degree in computer systems from Aurora University while attending night school. A pioneer in computer systems, he helped implement just-in-time inventory processes at Burgess-Norton and later taught computer systems at Waubonsee Community College.
He was preceded in death by his former wife and high-school sweetheart, Rita Wolf (Lantz), with whom he shared 26 years; by his parents Clarence and Lucille Wolf; and his sister, Carol Wolf (Sandrolini). Ed is survived by his children Ty (Diane), Cindi (John) Krachtus, Peter (Sarah Strang), and Benjamin (Amy); grandchildren Ryan, Connor, Courtney, Samantha, Sam, Alexis, and Tim; great-grandchild Asher; and his brother Ken (Jane) and sister Merrie (Gene) Gozner. He is also survived by his current wife, Bonne Wolf (Bohler), from whom he was separated.
A lifelong Cubs and Bears fan, Ed also enjoyed golf, history, and friendly competition-serving as captain of his Beanbag Baseball team at the Diamond Senior Apartments. Known for his intelligence, kindness, and humor, he was deeply cherished by everyone.
A private, family burial is being held on Monday, September 22nd, after which the family invites friends and loved ones of Ed to join them from 1:30-3:00 at Diamond Senior Apartments, 3350 White Oak Drive, Oswego, Illinois, for a Celebration of Life.
