Mary Ann Schmidt Modersohn, nee Janko, age 83 of Sandwich, IL and formerly a 54 year resident of Naperville, IL. She passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her son's home.

She was born January 19, 1933 in Chicago, IL to her loving late parents, Frank and Frieda Janko. Cherished wife of the late John Schmidt, wedded for 32 years and her second husband, the late Philip Modersohn, wedded for 12 years.

Beloved mother of Randy Schmidt of Joliet, IL, Darlene (Ric) Lantz of Lawrence, KS, Roxane (Bob) Gallagher of Aurora, IL, and step-mother of Vickey (Glenn) Reynolds of Albemarle, NC and the late Rick Modersohn. Loving grandmother of Jeff Lantz, Jason (Allison) Kentros, Matthew Kentros, Stephanie (Steve) Robson, and Brianna Gallagher, step-grandmother of Mary Sue (Bill) Bryant and Sara Modersohn. Great-grandmother of Caleb, Mason, Aurora, Cole, Franky, Kinley and step-great-grandmother of Chase and Carly. Fond sister of Sharon (Steve) Ruhl of Naperville and the late Frank Janko, Jr., and aunt of several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann worked as a secretary for many years until her retirement. She was active in the "Women of the Moose" Naperville Chapter serving on many committees as well as holding the highest office of Senior Regent. Most recently, Mary Ann volunteered at Edward Hospital Cancer Center, achieving 6500 hours of service! She will be missed by all of her family, friends and her pen-pal of 70 years, Betty Tyler of London, England.

Memorial Visitation: Monday, August 1st 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Private graveside services will be held at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, IL.
