Died: May 31, 2025
Nancy Nelson, of Batavia (formally of Oswego), went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 31, 2025, after living with the effects of dementia for a number of years.
Nancy was born on September 22, 1942, to Jacob and Lucille (Rennekamp) Geiss, in Nokomis, IL. She graduated from Concordia University in 1963 and began her teaching career in Altamont, IL, where she met the love and light of her life, Chris Nelson. They were married in 1964 and spent the next 60 years together. After her children were born, she taught in Sandwich, IL until her retirement in 2003. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, including numerous vacations and trips to see the Cubs, going to sporting events for her husband, children, and granddaughters, golfing, baking, playing cards, and taking long walks. She was a long-time member of Cross Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and part of the LWML.
Nancy is survived by her husband Chris Nelson of Batavia, daughters Tami (Scott) Pfister of North Aurora and Staci (Stevin) Dahl of Ames, IA, her granddaughters Megan (Nick) Lenert of Montgomery, IL, and Allison (Marco Rojas) Pfister of Woodridge, IL, her sister Sharon Maguire of Crown Point, IN, her brothers Jim (Cindy) Janssen of Crossville, TN, and Jan (Nanci) Janssen of Mayfield, KY, her sister-in-laws Edith Baldwin of Hoopeston, IL and Peggy Nelson of Watseka IL, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as 3 grandcats, Sammie, Oliver, and Ember. She will be missed by all who knew her!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Geiss, Lucille Janssen and Elmer Janssen.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Landings and Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and care of Nancy during these past 4 months.
Visitation will be held at Nelson Larson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL on Tuesday, June 3, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Cross Lutheran Church 8609 IL-47, Yorkville, IL on Wednesday, June 4 at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Nancy to Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
