Shirley LeClercq Obituary

Shirley Ann LeClercq
Born: March 29, 1939
Died: October 25, 2023
Shirley was born to Herbert Sr. and Dorothy Lantz in Oswego, IL where she also went to school. After graduating in 1957 from Oswego High School, she joined the workforce and ended up as Head Clerk of the Treasury Dept. at NICOR. It was while waiting for her ride home one night that Shirley met her husband of 61 years, Robert LeClercq. Together they enjoyed volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and at their church where Shirley was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, cross-stitching, and ceramics. She also continued to use her book-keeping skills as Treasurer for the Auroraland Auto Restorers' Club for 20 years. She also served as Room Mother for her boys homeroom classes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Sr. and Dorothy, and her two siblings, Herbert Jr and Rita. She leaves behind her beloved husband Robert, their three sons, David, Brian (Dian), John, and five grandchildren, Dayton, Evan, Natasha, Jasha, and Austin.
Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd located at 5 W Washington St, Oswego, IL 60543 on Tuesday, November 21st. Visitation will begin at 10am, funeral service at 11am, and luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to continue Shirley's giving spirit by donating to a charity close to her heart: Church of the Good Shepherd of Oswego, IL; TAILS Humane Society of DeKalb, IL; or Shriner's Children Hospital of Chicago, IL.
