Aridith "Ardie" Rita Monzel
LILY LAKE - Aridith "Ardie" Rita Monzel, 81, of Lily Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication and a life well-lived.
Born in Colorado to Robert and Ruby Scott, Ardie's journey led her to join the United States Army in 1960.
Stationed in South Carolina, she crossed paths with Hubert Monzel, the bus driver for the WAC detachment, sparking a friendship that blossomed into a lifelong romance. Ardie and Hubert were united in marriage on February 24, 1961, and embarked on a journey that took them to Chicago before settling in Lily Lake, WI in 1971, where they built a home and lasting memories.
Ardie was a woman of many passions, earning a degree in Horticulture and finding joy in gardening and travel. Her green thumb and adventurous spirit were evident in the beauty she cultivated in her gardens and the memories she created during her travels.
Actively involved in the Lily Lake Summerhaven Association, Ardie also dedicated her time to volunteer work for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, leaving a positive impact on her community.
Ardie is survived by her husband, Hubert; children: Dennis Monzel and Marlene (Edward Cimochowski) Monzel; grandchildren: Christopher and Alex (Emily) Monzel and Phillip, Colleen and Matthew (Michelle) Gluchman; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dee Monzel; brother-in-law, Fred Schaer; nieces: Sharon (Mark Emmerson) Monzel and Donna (Mike) Milasius; and nephew, Charles Schaer. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Meredith Scott and Sandy Schaer.
The family would like to thank Mandy, Irene and Lindsey of Allay Hospice for their phenomenal care of Ardie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the YMCA of Kenosha, a cause that was close to Ardie's heart.
Per Ardie's wishes, no services will be held.
