Edith G. Kosman of Kenosha, WI died Saturday, February 27 at Brookside Care Center of a long illness with family members at her side.
She was born April 26, 1929 in Kenosha, WI to the late Ida (Grant) and Joseph Hitchler. Edith attended local schools and graduated from Kenosha High School.
She married George W. Thompson on November 15, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1963. She married Richard Wolff in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1969. She married Walter Kosman on October 25, 1980. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Edith was employed at American Motors Corporation, first in the office and then in the factory doing assembly work. She retired in 1987 when AMC was bought by Chrysler.
She loved to travel and visited Israel, China, and Europe, as well as a few cruises. She very much enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit her sister. She was an avid card player and enjoyed teaching others, especially younger family members, how to play Hand and Foot, a favorite. Edith was a wonderful people person and loved to people watch.
She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church and was the "unofficial greeter". She loved to meet new or prospective members and introduce them to others in the church.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Edith is survived by her two children, David (Dorothy) Thompson and Sarah (James) White. She is also survived by her Stepchildren, Victor (Linda) Kosman and Constance Kosman. She is also survived by Grandchildren Ray Thompson, Rachel (Hannah) Clarkson, David White, Joseph (Lindsey) Kosman, Tom (Kristin) Kosman, and Jim (Tiffany)Kosman. She is also survived by 9 Great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou Hitchler, Sister-in-law Carole Hitchler, and many wonderful nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
Besides her parents and spouses, Edith was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth (Michael) Bedics, Thora (Elon) Peterson, Irene Hartung, Hilma (Steve)Tashek, Richard (Phyllis) Hitchler, and David (Carole) Hitchler. and by her stepson Ronald Kosman.
Funeral Services for Edith will be held on Friday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 until the time of service.
Due to public concerns and guidelines with the CDC, we are limited to 50 people in the funeral home, which means you may need to wait outside for a short period of time before entering. As mandated by the Governor, masks are required and social distancing is encouraged. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these trying times.
