Ernest "Vern" Simpson, Jr., 37, of Kenosha, Wis., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Westgate Funeral Home (616 Washington St., Waukegan, IL 60085).

My prayers and condolences go out to the Simpson Family - Ernest ( Vern ) and I were friends in HS and afterwards we kept in touch for some time - we lost touch a few years back - My heart was saddened by hearing the loss of such a great person a year ago - sad to be so late to hearing this ! The Vern I knew was kind , never judged and accepted everyone for who they were/are. Kind hearted and would give the shirt off his back for anyone- Earth lost a great soul , yet heaven gained another amazing angel - Sending our love to the heaven gates and back - Fly high sweet friend

My heart and prayers goes out to Vern's children, wife, parents, siblings, family, and friends. We rented movies every Tues. at Family Video, where we met up. I'll miss his smile and the little friendship we shared. Rest In Heaven "Vern"

My cousin was a great person who treated everyone he knew like family. Was one of the strongest and most generous people i ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always lived his life to the fullest. Never missed a moment of opportunity, while encouraging others to do the same. He may be gone. But never forgottened. His spirit lives amongst us. And i am very proud of the glorious life he lived. He's an inspiring mentor. Supportive father. Amazing brother. Unconditional loving son/grandson.
Someone who i truly thank God I have in my life.
Vern continue to love and protect us. Safe and sound in the gates of heaven.
