Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Guptail
Aug. 25, 1947 - March 21, 2024
KENOSHA - Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Guptail, age 76, of Kenosha, passed away on March 21, 2024. He was born on August 25, 1947, to the late Ellsworth and Eunice (Rockwell) Guptail in Elgin, IL. On October 10, 1970, he married Sharon Weglarek, they enjoyed 53 years of marriage and remained married until the time of his death. He graduated from MSOE with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1970. The same year, he moved to Kenosha with his wife, and began working at Snap – On, retiring in 2004. After his retirement, he began working as a substitute teacher in Kenosha until 2017 and as a bailiff until 2023.
Jerry loved fishing, golfing, bowling, gardening, traveling, camping, and most of all, spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Guptail; children: Daniel (Brianna) Guptail of Memphis, TN, Matthew Guptail of Stevens Point, WI; grandchild, Aiden Guptail of Dubuque, IA; siblings: William (Kathleen) Guptail of Huntley, IL, and Sandra Sommers of South Elgin, IL; as well as many other living relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Guptail; sister, Nancy Guptail; and many aunts and uncles.
Services for Jerry will be held at Kemper Center Founder's Hall (6501 3 Ave) on Tuesday March 26, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. A visitation with the family will take place at Founder's Hall from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at St. Cashmir's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children Research Hospital in Jerry's name would be appreciated.

Jerry´s death came as a complete surprise. He was my manager in hand tools before my transfer to Milwaukee. I remember his honesty and thoroughness. Only just heard of his passing through a Bill Nurmi, another coworker. I hope the family has found peace. Eric Gustafson
