I will always appreciate Gretchen´s beautiful smile and her funny wit as she tried valiantly to make me a better tennis player. I can still hear her in my head, "Jeannette, you´re tipping over!" - on my bad ground strokes where I was reaching instead of moving my feet. Andy, you and Gretchen reingnited my love of tennis and I will be forever grateful. Wishing your family peaceful hearts and vivid memories.

I cherish the fun times the Shaufler and Barnes family shared when you lived on 7th Ave. - from swimming in your backyard pool, walking to and from Southport, and summers at The Towne Club. Gretchen was always so kind to me. Her inclusiveness was a gift not shared by many. My heart goes out to you, all.

Dear Andy, Mindy and family,
I was so sad to hear of Gretchen's passing. As Mary Claire said, she was the best tennis instructor I ever had, as well as a kind and gentle soul. She could laugh with us and also empathize with us. A big hearted person. I pray for your comfort and strength as you grieve the loss of this beautiful and sensitive person.
