Lynn L. Groves
March 21, 1946 - July 12, 2024
TAMPA, FL - Lynn L. Groves, age 78, passed away on July 12, 2024 at Advent Hospital in Tampa, FL from a short illness. Born in Kenosha, WI on March 21, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Norman and Linda (Krause) Wendorf. She was the sister of Neil Wendorf and sister-in-law to Darlene Wendorf both of which preceded her in death. Lynn attended grade school at Bethany Luthern elementary; middle school at Lincoln Junior High where she was an honors student and cheerleader; and she graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1964 where she was an honors student as well as a member of the competitive Trident Swim team.
In 1965 she completed her training in radiology at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee to be an x-ray technician. She was employed for many years at Kenosha Memorial Hospital as well as several doctors offices and physicians clinics.
On June 7, 1969 she married Paul Groves (son of Bart and Edna Groves) at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kenosha. They were blessed with 55 years of very happy marriage and had two children (Jennifer and Jeff) both of which earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Lynn loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin and soon after their marriage Lynn and Paul purchased a home on Plummer Lake just outside of Minocqua, WI, where they spent many happy summers before moving to the Eagle River Chain. After several years on the chain they moved to Big Crawling Stone Lake on the Fence Lake/Flambeau Chain which became their 'Golden Pond' for many many more happy years. Lynn loved swimming, fishing, and water skiing. In her younger years she frequently occupied the top of the pyramid of a well known and nationally recognized Kenosha water skier. When she needed a little rest (which was seldom) she could be found on the pier reading her favorite novel next to pets Roxy, Lilly, and Cashew. Some of her very happiest days were spent watching her children participate in all of their sporting and musical endeavors. She loved watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. She was also an accomplished piano player and taught piano for many years and gave recitals that were attended by many families from Kenosha and the surrounding area. She was also an accomplished cook and loved to have family and friends over frequently for dinners and special Holiday occasions. Her last dozen years or so were spent in Florida (Boynton Beach, Del Ray Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Harbor and Tampa). She loved warm climates. The sun, sand and ocean brought a smile to her face each and every day of the year as she and husband Paul turned into the happiest of Florida 'beach bums'.
Lynn was loving, kind, and a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Paul; daughter, Jennifer, and son, Jeff. As well as nephew, Kyle Wendorf; sister-in-law, Joanne Beals; and brothers-in-law: Pete and Dave Groves. And not to forget the many nieces and nephews plus close friends: Dick and Judy Karmann and their son, Brad (JoDee Marie); as well as neighbors and close friends: Bruce Thompson and Ron Hannes.
Lynn was a religious person and without a doubt has already found her favorite 'lake in the sky' and is swimming with the angels and taking her place near the right hand of God. We love and miss you, Lynn. Our pain is only mitigated by the fact that we know that you are very happy and that we will see you again very soon. With all our love: Paul, Jennifer, and Jeff.
