Maria Merritt
1960 – 2021
KENOSHA - Maria (Montemurro) Merritt, 61, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 10, 2021, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Maria was born September 29, 1960, in Kenosha, WI. She attended Bradford High School, graduating in 1978. On June 28, 1980, Maria married William Merritt, the love of her life, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Kenosha, WI. Maria spent her life serving the public, managing the medical offices of Dr. Leonardo and Dr. Angelina Montemurro.
Maria's life revolved around her family. She enjoyed her daily phone calls with several family members and loved nothing more than hosting a house full of people. During her career, she truly loved caring for the patients and had a way about her that made everyone feel special. She made her home an amazing place for her grandkids who were the light of her life. Maria knew no strangers, as everyone she met became a friend.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, William; her children: Alison (Thomas Stauber) Merritt and William (Dr. Erin) Merritt; seven grandchildren: Zoe, Angela, Lucy, Elijah, Sierra, Tommy, and Billy; her siblings: Raffaele (Maria) Montemurro, Dr. Angelina Montemurro, Giuseppe (Pamela) Montemurro, Antonio (Rosa) Montemurro, Francesco (Dr. Anne Nudi) Montemurro, Filomena (Michael) Swartz, Louisa (Dr. Vincent) Rizzo, and Dr. Leonardo (Jennifer) Montemurro; and her lifelong best friend Michele (Michael) Prokopek.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; Antonio and Luisa Montemurro.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Proko Funeral Home, with a memorial service to commence at 11:30 a.m.

My dearest and deepest condolences to the Merritt and Montemurro families. I met Maria more than 20 years ago through Dr Lenny Montemurro. She always had a beautiful smile and kind word whenever I seen her. She will be greatly missed by my family.
