Mary Ann Eils Obituary

Mary Ann Eils

August 8, 1928 - June 10, 2025

Mary Ann Eils, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Burlington, Wis.. Born on August 8, 1928, in Kenosha, Wis., she lived a long and vibrant life marked by dedication to her family, her profession, and her many passions.

Mary Ann pursued a career in nursing with unwavering commitment. She earned her Registered Nurse certification from St. Luke's and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Carroll University. Her professional journey began as a surgical nurse at St. Catherine's Hospital, where she provided compassionate care to countless patients. Later, she shared her knowledge and experience as an instructor at Gateway Technical College, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Never one to slow down with age, Mary Ann became a certified lifeguard at the remarkable age of 70 and continued teaching water aerobics well into her 80s. Her energy and enthusiasm inspired those around her and reflected her lifelong belief in staying active and engaged.

On June 28, 1947, Mary Ann married Jim Eils, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing. Together, they built a loving family that remained central to Mary Ann's life. She was a devoted mother to Donna (Grant) Zimany and the late Patricia (Dave) Flores, Martin Eils, and Bill (Jenny)Eils. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Mary Ann found joy in many pursuits beyond her professional life. She loved traveling and exploring new places. A talented crocheter and enthusiastic participant in writing clubs and hootenannies, she embraced creativity in all its forms. A faithful member of various church groups and an avid volunteer for numerous organizations, she gave generously of her time and spirit. Music held a special place in her heart-especially opera-and she often found comfort and inspiration through song.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim; children Patricia Flores, Martin Eils, and William Eils; and sister. Roberta Rogaven.

May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church 13022 Wilmot Rd. Service at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow
