Shirley Vlahovic Obituary

Shirley Maxine (Hess) Vlahovic, age 101, of Mesa, Ariz., passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, in Mesa, Ariz. She was a devoted wife to Joseph Vlahovic until his passing in 2011.
Shirley's life was one of service and hard work, from assembling airplane engines in WWII to working as a social worker for the City of Kenosha. She was an active member of 4 Square Church, where she met and married her loving husband, then continued God's work and raised their family at the Lakeshore Tabernacle. In 1977, they moved to Mesa, Ariz. to assist with the growing needs of the faith based non-profit, Indian Trails. Her lifelong support of Jerry and Betty McSorley and the Outreach Services in Zapata, Texas never wavered.
Shirley is survived by two of her four children. Stephen Paul and David Joseph (sp. Debbie Erdmann) preceded their mother, and she is survived by Michael John and Vicky Lynn (sp. James E. Myers). She dearly loved and cherished her grandchildren: Joseph (Crystal), Katie (Joe Decker), Lori (Jaran), Amy and James and her seven great-grandchildren. Her beloved brother, Milton (sp. Gail), and many other close relatives all had places in her heart and especially in her prayers.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life in her honor on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery: 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248, followed by a celebration of life reception at 11 a.m.

It´s been many years, Mike, so I´m sorry that this is how/when we next make contact. I wish to make obvious how blessed you´ve been to have had your Mom for 101 years, as well as to express our sorrow that that has come to an end. She raised a fine family!
