Steven Carrier Obituary

Steven "Steve" Carrier

1953 - 2014

Steven "Steve" Carrier, 61 of Pleasant Prairie, formerly of Waukegan, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 25, at St. Catherine's Hospital.

Born on Jan. 25, 1953, in Highwood, Ill., he was the son of William Robert and Doris "Jean" (Hindes) Carrier. He graduated from Waukegan High School and earned his Associates Degree from Lake Forest School of Management.

On May 4, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia "Patti" McMahon in Waukegan. They were married over 40 years. They moved to Pleasant Prairie in 2007.

He was employed as the VP of Operations at American Metal Technologies for the last 12 years.

Steve was active with Ducks Unlimited, as well as a member of the NRA, Dark Acres, Wauconda Sportsman Club, and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and also a shareholder. He volunteered for his daughter's ice skating team and at St. Joseph's High School. He was always generous with his time and enjoyed helping those around him.

Steve's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends, most importantly time up north. He had so many wonderful memories of fishing and hunting with his brothers and nephews. His family and friends were truly the light of his life.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Patti of Pleasant Prairie; his adoring daughter, Breanne (Vince Capelli) Carrier of Kenosha; his mother, Doris "Jean" Carrier of Wadsworth, Ill.; two brothers, Larry (Sharon) Carrier of Gurnee, Ill., and Wayne (Melanie) Carrier of Kenosha; his nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children, Thomas (Veronica) McMahon III, Sarah (Carlos) Berrios, John (Meghan) Carrier, Jeff (Jennifer) Carrier and Lori Carrier; great nieces and great nephews, Kylie Carrier, Ethen Berrios, Emmy and Violet McMahon, and Mason Berrios. He is further survived by other beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Carrier, his daughter, Erin Jean, and his in-laws, Thomas and Beverley McMahon and his brother in law, Thomas McMahon, Jr.

Prayers will be held from Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 8:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, at Proko Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be used for a monument would be greatly appreciated.

I will forever remember Steve as one of the older kids in our neighborhood where we grew up. Steve and his brothers knew how to work on anything and fix anything. Baseball , car models, Estes rockets you name it the Carrier boys knew how to do it . Steve and his brothers always took care of the younger kids in the neighborhood , I being one of them. Patti from my family , my brothers and their families we are all very sorry for the loss of Steve. A great guy.
