Steven Griffiths Obituary
1961 - 2016
Steven M. "Beaver" Griffiths, 54, of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in Bolingbrook, Ill.
Born in Fort Dix, N.J., on Nov. 25, 1961, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Dolores E. (DeRose) Griffiths. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. He attended Mt. Carmel Grade School, where he was an altar boy, and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1979. Steve also attended Carthage College where he played baseball.
On April 12, 1986, he married Jennifer "Cookie" Allemand at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Steve was formerly employed with Jones Intercable/Time Warner Cable, Triangle Appliance and was currently the manager at Ashley Furniture. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a coach, umpire and a past board member with Little Leaguers of Kenosha. Steve was a past board member of CYC/Boys & Girls Club, was a mentor at Whittier Elementary School, an avid bowler, a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan, a sports enthusiast and a lifelong coach. Steve will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of Kenosha; two children, Eric Griffiths (Tricia Reichenbach) of Rockford, Ill., and Sara Griffiths of Kenosha; a brother, Bill Griffiths (Jolynn) of Gurnee, Ill.; three sisters, Julie Lux of Kenosha, Lori Lux (Victor) of Sturtevant, Lisa Griffiths of Georgia; and his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Allemand (Bill Hafke) of Kenosha. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Fred J. Allemand, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, at Proko Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.

Oh Cookie, Sara and Eric. I have put off sharing my deep sadness because I didn't want to add to your pain. I wanted to wait until I could find the right words to offer you some peace and strength. I know there are no words that can manage to do that just the comfort of those of us whose lives have been made better by just knowing Beaver and you. I treasure the times we spent together and the gift of friendship shared. When I was young I looked up to Beaver. That started when I was bat boy for AB Shmidts. He and my brother played. Anytime I saw Bev I just felt better. He was so cool to me.

We are so sad to hear the news of Steve's passing. When Sam and Eric played ball together at Tremper High School, we were blessed to have met Steve and your wonderful family. The past few years whenever we would run into to Steve in Kenosha, we would catch up on our families and he was always so proud to share what Eric and Sarah were doing and you, Cookie, as well. Dear Family & Friends of Steve,
I as well as my family, are deeply saddened with the loss of such a wonderful person as Steve Griffiths. Whether in his personal life or what he was to our community, it was always straight forward and from his heart. It was my privilege to coach Steve while at Bradford. He was outstanding and gave 100% all of the time. He was one of my best pitchers in all my coaching years. He will be missed and never forgotten as a true stand out of his time.

'Beaver' was an outstanding coach and role model for our son, Nate, and even after many years 'Beav' and 'Cookie' would always ask about him whenever our paths crossed. As anyone who knew him knows and stating the obvious - he was a wonderful person and you just enjoyed being around him. So many really good things about this guy. He always made you feel better, even when just running into him. This is an incredible loss - for family, friends, the city he loved and humanity. Beaver lived a beautiful life - he touched so many, many people and his presence and influence remains.

Steve and I were just having a conversation a few weeks ago about having lost beloved family members when we were high school student athletes. We always felt we had much in common and he was a source of strength for me in many difficult times. We may have been born to different family units, but spiritually, we were brothers. We even roomed together our first year at Carthage College.
His unselfishness was always in play and whenever I was blessed with this great privilege that God gave me to be in his presence, I always felt he had my best interest at heart. And I'm sure countless others felt this way about "Beav". We could count on his genuineness. He embraced being a champion literally and figuratively through his humility and willingness to shared what he learned with others.
To his beloved wife Jennifer and family, thanks for sharing him with us. While we will miss him deeply in this earth, the angels in heaven are rejoicing as they welcome him home.

Andy and I unfortunately haven't seen you guys that much in the past years but when ever we would run into you guys we always walked away with Big Smiles and Warmth in our Hearts .
Cookie I recently lost my Big brother Tom and Andy's best friend in an accident and I know personally there is nothing I can say or do to take away the pain and sadness.... Please take comfort knowing you and your family are in our Prayers and Thoughts- We Love you ......

Our families grew up in the same neighborhood. We all have a lifetime of memories with them. I remember when I last saw Beaver it was at triangle. He brought up the old neighborhood and our families. I remember how his face lit up when he talked about his wife and kids and how proud of them he was. My heart aches for all of them and the enrire Griffiths family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
