Susan F. Mierta

Sept. 16, 1948 - Oct. 4, 2021

Susan F. Mierta, age 73, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Hospice House.

Born on September 16, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Zibelle (Scheunemann) Norby. Susan was a graduate of Racine Lutheran High School and later attended class at the University of Wisconsin Parkside.

On August 24, 1968, she was united in marriage to Matthew M. Mierta, Jr. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Together they built a beautiful marriage and raised four wonderful children.

She was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church where she was involved in the church choir and handbell choir. She loved square and round dancing.

Susan was employed as a secretary for Great Lakes Naval Hospital, The Leader Store and Kenosha Unified School District.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Matthew Mierta, Jr. of 53 years; her children, Amy (Arnie) Quinn, Karen Kreuser, Matthew (Kelly) Mierta III and Andrew (Amber) Mierta; her grandchildren, Kate, Addie, Maggie, Dannie, Emma, Ellie, Josh, Zach, Thomas, Everett, Joey and Bella; her brothers-in-law, Thomas (Emma) Mierta and Russell Mierta; her sister-in-law, Ellen Norby, many nieces and nephews and her pet dog, Molly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents; her brother, James Norby and her loving dogs, Jamie, Charlie and Jacob.

Funeral services honoring Susan's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Piasecki Funeral Home. Private interment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation for Susan will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance Inc./Hospice House, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 would be appreciated.
