Theresa Galley Obituary

Theresa Virginia Tootie, Toots Galley

1936 - 2014

Theresa Virginia Tootie, Toots Galley, born on Jan. 23, 1936, to Peter and Jennie (Volpendesta) Gennaccaro, passed away on June 25, 2014, at Manor Care Nursing Home after a long illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, attending Frank Elementary School, McKinley Jr. High School and graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School, where she was a cheerleader, in 1954. She did a little traveling after high school and then married Bernard Allan Galley in a lavish ceremony at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on June 18, 1960.

In her early years, Tootie was employed by Coopers (Jockey International). After the birth of her son, she worked at Franks Bakery and for 20 years at Sears Roebuck until her retirement.

A member of St. Annes Catholic Church, Tootie was an avid cook and baker and was a volunteer hockey mom in Kenosha and Milwaukee. She also did volunteer work at St. Catherines Hospital through the Italian American Womens Auxiliary, being very proud of her Italian Heritage.

Surviving are her husband, Bernard Allan Galley of Kenosha; a daughter, Betty Ann and David Shamberg of Pleasant Prairie; a son, Brian and Barbara Fischer-Galley of Paddock Lake; three grandchildren, Jenny ONeal, Bradley and Gary Tolin; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Gennaccaro.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Annes Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Proko Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
