Alma Lee Rescher

lexington, Kentucky - Beloved mother and grandmother, Lee Rescher, passed away in Lexington, KY, on August 5, 2021. She was born on March 17, 1923 in Emerson, KY to the late Myrtle and James Corbett Rose. She attended the Rose School Elementary and graduated in 1941 from Laurel High School with honors. While in school, she was known for her beautiful singing voice and her participation in the school chorus. After marrying an Air Force cadet, she spent several years at military bases in Texas, Louisiana and Florida. After the war, she settled in Lexington, KY where she served as Personnel Manager at GTE – General Telephone and Electronics Corporation. She was transferred to the Santa Monica, California office in 1964. While visiting her daughter in Washington, DC, she met and soon after married, Arthur Rescher, who had been part of an Army film production team during the war. He was an executive for a motion picture laboratory. They moved to the Washington, DC area where Art joined WRS – a top film lab headquarters in Pittsburgh - and Lee served as Personnel Manager for a large furniture company. Art also served on the Board of the Council on International Non-Theatrical Events, known as CINE. In this capacity, he and Lee traveled to many other countries to attend film festivals and confer with other cultural attaches. In every way, Lee served as a partner in her husband's documentary film career. She also became his partner aboard their sailing yacht, the Contessa. Not only was she a gracious hostess, but an excellent sailor in her own right. Lee and Art enjoyed many happy years sailing The Chesapeake Bay. They also enjoyed taking the boat down the Intercostal Waterway to their second home in Vero Beach, Florida. In addition, they rented boats and sailed such exotic waters as the Caribbean, the Greek Isles and the Sea of Cortez. Lee spent her last years in Lexington, KY and Vero Beach. At 98 years of age, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Allen Stamper and second husband, Arthur Rescher. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lee Stewart of Lexington, KY and Sharri K. (Richard) Riva of Scottsdale, AZ,; grandchildren, Gregory S. (Amy) Reese, Michael Reese and Amanda Reese; stepdaughter, Barbara Perry; sister, Sally Rupert; and beloved nieces and nephews. Lee loved her husband, Art's nickname for her. It was "Buttercup." And she truly was a bright and beautiful addition to the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Services For Lee will Take place in Annapolis, MD
